My Story by Kevin Asuncion, eKindling
Based on an empathic and client first approach Jonathan Remulla has built a design firm that many individuals and organizations trust. With the ability to design anything, he has helped over 120+ clients from 8 different countries visualize their brand onto everything from websites, to logos, to packaging and print. His work has been recognized by many media outlets including URB Magazine, Remix Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal. Over the past 6 years, Jonathan has established himself as a dynamic designer who can work across industries, disciplines and geographical borders while providing a big design firm process for forward thinking individuals and organizations.
Born in 1980, to Filipino immigrant parents, Jonathan grew up the second youngest of five children. Jonathan attended the California College of Art and The University of San Francisco. It was there where he took his very first art class and eventually developed his skills and passion for graphic design and new media. Graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2002 and in the midst of Dot-Com Bubble Bust, Jonathan took his talents to LA where after two years of odd-end design jobs for a variety of firms, was eventually recruited at Incase as the Interactive Design Lead. Not content with just his 9-5, Jonathan started picking up freelance design gigs and even moonlighted as an entrepreneur when he started his silk screen business in 2004 with his best friend and his brothers. In 2005, Jonathan felt the work catch up to him and decided to resign from Incase to take control of his own design destiny and formally started what today is known as Supafrenz.
In a warehouse in Carson, CA, Jonathan redesigned Sam Spiegel's Squeak E Clean website, which caught the eye of Frank Longo which lead to them teaming up together to work on projects for some of the most renowned fashion and film people including Cameron Silver of Decades, Jeremy Scott, Liz Goldwyn, Art Director David Cameron, and Art Director Brian Leitch. Between 2006- 2007 Jonathan worked with many more clients including film clients David Fincher Director of Fight Club, Social Network, Se7en and Quintessence Films Michele Civetta and Asia Argento's Film Production Company to musicians Mike Relm, Money Mark, Z-Trip, and the legendary record label Quannum Projects DJ Shadow, Lateef the Truthspeaker, Lyrics Born, Gift of Gab. |

In 2008, with the economic downturn drying up most of the domestic work, Jonathan made the bold move to Cebu, Philippines to take on a new challenge of working with international clients. He partnered with an old friend and owner of Lucid, in Bangalore, India, to design for some of India's hottest start-ups and well trusted brands. From developing branding and packaging for Britannia ( India's 9th trusted brand) to developing the branding for the multi-national travel agency, Enchanting Travels, Jonathan extended his reach beyond his US origins and established himself as a designer who can transcend geographical borders and cultures.
Jonathan also deeply believes in giving back. His philanthropic endeavors include designing brand identity and marketing collateral for Philippine based non profit organizations such as Education Kindling, WE Philippines and JeepneED.
Currently, Jonathan is providing his UX/UI expertise to lead yFrog's design of mobile and online experiences.
