Programs and File Formats
Please create artwork in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. Artwork created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint, or files downloaded from a website are not ready for print; we will accept them if you have no other options but will most likely need to work on them and therefore charge the applicable Artwork Fees.
Please send artwork as .eps, .ai, or .psd files. .Jpg, .tif, and .bmp files are typically not ready for print; again, we will accept them if you have no other options but will most likely need to work on them and therefore charge the applicable Artwork Fees.
File Size and Resolution
Please save your artwork at the size you’d like us to print it in, at 150 dpi, or dots per inch. If you must save it in a smaller size, do so at a higher resolution, like 300 dpi. When you do either of these steps, you are making certain that the clarity you see on your computer screen is very close to, if not exactly, what you will see in your final product. Often times, people pull images from a website and submit that file as their artwork. However, the website image is much smaller than the size they’d like it printed and it is saved at 72 dpi; therefore, when we enlarge the file, the image is unclear and fuzzy, or pixelated.
Fonts and Images
Please outline all fonts and make sure images are in vector formats. When a font is outlined and when an image is in vector format, its specific shapes are converted to plotted points and mathematical equations that express what it should look like, so that no matter how much you enlarge or condense it, and no matter what program you open your artwork file in, the font and images retain their same features. Otherwise, the font and image become unclear and fuzzy, or pixelated.
Colors (spot color vs. 4-color process)
We will be sure to match your requested design colors as closely as possible, and, believe us, we spend a lot of time making sure our ink accurately matches your artwork (we have the containers of random ink colors to prove it). But if you want to be absolutely sure we give you exactly what you’re looking for, send us the Pantone colors; keep in mind that this might entail a $35.00/color Color Matching Fee. |
