Programs and File Formats
Embroidery artwork can be submitted using any program. What will be most important in ensuring the integrity of your design on your final product is the resolution (see below).
With any program comes any file format. However, the ideal format to submit your design in is .jpg.
File Size and Resolution
A key process in embroidery is digitizing, or converting your design image to a digital file that plots the stitching points for the embroidery machine. In order for digitizing to be as accurate as possible, we ask that you send us your image at the highest resolution possible, with 300 dpi being ideal.
File size does not necessarily matter; however, keep in mind that an 8 inch by 12 inch image at 300 dpi will result in a huge file attachment compared to a 2 inch by 3 inch image at the same high resolution. Therefore, we recommend that you prioritize the resolution on your design file instead of its desired final size and simply tell us in your e-mail how large you’d like the image on your final product.
Fonts and Images
Fonts and images do not need to be in vector format for embroidery.
Colors
Please provide your artwork in color so that we may compare our available threads. If you’d like to pick out the threads yourself, we’ve provided our thread inventory here:
http://www.j6designs.com/thread.htm
If you want a specific thread color, be sure to include the card letter (A,B, C, etc.), column number (1, 2, 3, etc.) and thread number (1000, 86, 128, 1027).
